Meet Casey
Casey: A Native Central Texan
CENTRAL TEXAS ROOTS
Casey is a seventh‑generation Texan. His grandfather, WB Shepard, settled on a farm in Hill County near Abbott in 1939, and Casey’s parents and sister’s family still live there today.
Casey graduated from Midway High School near Waco in 1999, where he discovered his love for policy debate.
His success in debate earned him a public policy debate scholarship to a college in California. He later stayed in California for law school. After finishing his education, Casey was glad to return home to Central Texas.
CENTRAL TEXAS TIES
Casey returned to Waco in 2010 to be closer to his family.
He spends much of his free time at the farm, cheering on his niece and nephew at their games and recitals, keeping up with current events, and fitting in a social life when he can.
Casey is proud to call Central Texas home and hopes his family will continue to live here for generations.
CENTRAL TEXAS PROUD
Casey has practiced law in Central Texas since 2011, focusing on indigent criminal defense.
Working with low‑income clients has given him a strong understanding of the challenges many Americans face and a clear sense of how government can better serve people from all backgrounds.
Every day, Casey works to ensure the government meets its Constitutional duties and protects everyone’s civil rights. His job requires him to be a fierce advocate, a coalition builder, and a skilled negotiator at the same time.
